Light of the Moon.

A single raindrop can raise the ocean; One person can make a difference.
Patrick Henry Hughes is a remarkable man, born without eyes, or the ability to fully straighten his arms and legs. He describes his disability as not one at all, and overcame it through music.
In the darkness of his eyes, and the sweetness of his music, when Patrick Hughes plays it is the sound of promise. Patrick joined the Louisville Marching band, playing the trumped while his father pushed him in his wheelchair. His commitment and heart attracted crowds and the media throughout his marching band season; he became an inspiration to those around him. When they hear him play, they don't see a boy in a wheelchair, they see the never ending possibilities and a boy with no obstacles, and what we can accomplish if we want to make a difference.
Today, Partick travels the nation with his dad, sharing his story of overcoming, breaking barriers, seeing what's on the inside, and achiving more then you though possible.
'Sure, we're not going to play baseball together, but we can play music together- Patrick's able bodied father.

Enfield Activity.

Real or Fake: Janet is now possessed
by the Enfield Poltergeist.
Between 1977 and 1978, the British nation was shocked by one of the most intense poltergeist cases. It is known as the Enfield poltergeist. A seemingly normal family begins witnessing abnormal activity. There were documented reports of levitation and procession of the family's daughter who spoke with a completely different voice. Some evidence of this was caught on tape, and numerous amounts of mediums and vicars were contacted in hopes that they would be able to be rid of the abnormal activity, all being to frighten to carry on the task at hand. There were so much tension in the family, it poltergeist eventually broke apart the family. (For more information on this topic refer to the Enfield Poltergeist.)
Much controversy was caused due to the unexplainable happenings. Some people reported witnessing moving furniture, cold breezes, and water appearing in pools on the floor, and fires that ignited and extinguished themselves. Though, other's admitted that the young daughter came to them and confessed that she had faked some of the phenomenon’s, just to see if she would get caught, she admitted the things she faked the investigators new of.
On the web, there are numerous different stories, and point of views. People seemed to have thought that the children could be very ingenious, but they strongly doubted that they could outwit an investigator. Was it all a hoax, people think it's very unlikely. It was certainly an intriguing tale, but did it have enough proof of a poltergeist, or simply a child playing pranks?

What is a Poltergeist?

A poltergeist is a paranormal phenomenon, that usually includes inanimate objects moving or being thrown about, sentient noises (such as impaired knocking, pounding or banging), and on some occasions, physical attacks on those witnessing. Poltergeist activity is probably the most misunderstood form of paranormal activity. The word poltergeist actually means 'noisty ghost' , when translated from German.
According to wikipedia, no conclusive scientific explanation of the events exist up to this day, poltergeist have traditionally  been described in folklore as troublesome spirits.
But, according to http://www.prairieghosts.com/poltergeists1.html , they entirely believe in the existence of Poltergeist's. They believe that Poltergeist cases are the work of actual, intelligent spirits, and are the work of human agents. This particular website goes on to give numerous examples of Poltergeist encounters including: The Borley Rectory, The San Pedro Haunting's and The Macomb Poltergeist, in which they describe the happenings in full.
Many videos have been posted on what is believed to be actual footage of Poltergeist's knocking, but beneath the videos the comments continue to be completely two sided as though people will never be completely convinced on weather it is false or true. So, what do you believe?

Technology + Japan

The extent of the damage in Japan from the tsunami and earthquake in unknown, but deaths are already being reported and Japan is scrambling to cope and provide relief efforts for survivors.
Japan is arguably the most disaster-aware nation in the world, and have spent several years preparing for a different variety of hazards. Therefore, there were warnings immediately, telling people to stay away from coastlines and to seek higher ground. Japan created a system that 'outruns' the earthquake, sending information preparing people for the shock about what was about to happen, at best, this system provides 10 seconds of readying yourself.
Differentiating from other disasters of the same type, this time, we were able to watch the extent of the disaster live, on the web. Watching, from thousand's of miles away, and still being informed of the happenings going on. It's amazing to no the extent our technology has grown over the past years- to the point where we can see first hand the disasters going on in a whole other country, to being able to notify the public to prepare themselves before the hazard arrives.

'Don't be Evil.'

–noun Trademark .
1. brand name of a leading internet search engine, founded in 1998.
–verb (used without object)
2.  to use a search engine like Google to find information, a web site address, etc., on the Internet.
–verb (used with object),

I find it extremely ironic, that I was searching information about google... on google.
I realized that I am entirely dependent on google, I search  for images, videos, history, and sometimes, even people. But, what I find most troubling is the information that google possesses. We are unable to control the images on google, our pictures that we willingly shared with sites (example: facebook) can be sometimes found within the images of google without our consent or sometimes knowledge.
Google is so focused on becoming the biggest search engine that they have forgotten the very mo to they follow, 'don't be evil.' Though they may not realize it, they are becoming a large reason of the privacy problem that we possesses.
Google Image, Google Lab, Google Scribe, you could go on and on with the application's that google has created. It amazes me the usefulness and simplicity that these things have created. Google body has become a large, useful applications in hospitals. Nurses are now able to show patients a body and explain it, just by using a cellular device or Ipod touch. It's as easy as accessing the web, and a click. Things are becoming so simple and quick, and they keep creating. Idea's never stop.
Google is the very core of the web, without it, finding and processing information would be a whole lot more difficult then it is today. Information is just a click away; but are we fully understanding the amount of information we are sharing with the web? And is google swaying from there mo to, becoming the very thing that they say they aren't?

We Become the Conrollers.

Competition in the technological world is becoming tougher and tougher. One company produces one thing; and the other must continuously try to out do them, and produce something better. It's all about money, and they are becoming greedy to be the best in the gamer world. Though they might not realize what they are doing to our society.
In my opinion the more we advance technology the more we advance laziness and obesity. The new 'x-box kinect' is a perfect example of what I am trying to bring forth. It is extremely useful to not have a remote to have to search or have to continuously have to change the batteries in your controllers, instead, we become the controller. A simple hand gesture will show us a variety of different channels and games. It's effective, simple and extremely lazy. We are proving that it's okay to not get off the couch, why would you if all you had to use was your hand gestures or your voice?
Sure, advancing technology is a excellent thing, and will only help us grow, but how is this advancement effecting us, and the upcoming generations? What happens to those of us with computer based jobs? How is all this advancement going to affect them? If we asked the creator's of these new games if they have thought what they are doing to the work world, what would they say? How would they answer all these questions, Would they be able to explain themselves?

Our Sixth Sense.

Today; being 'Fun Friday' , we have been asked to watch videos based on numerous technology improvements, and then write a blog entry on what we had learned. We were shown basically how the sixth sense, and a multi-touch screen works; and given a brief explanation on some of the apps involved with it. But, what the user failed to present was how the new advanced technology will change our schools and our societies.
The school I attend is very technology based, and most of our work is done on computers. Even throughout elementary we are taught briefly on how to work and understand our computers. Our societies have already become extremely involved with technology that most kids and young adults day revolves around it. We are loosing touch with our grammar and communication skills; that we already lack.
Maybe I am looking at it from the wrong perspective, these objects might improve efficiency, and quicken our work. Possibly even encourage kids at school to work harder because of the simplicity of how easy this new technology is to use.
But, though we may be willing to learn and purchase new technology, we are becoming completely dependent on technology based objects. People already have major issues with our overuse of cellular devices and Ipods, wouldn't this new advancement just cause more problems? At our school, we have spend most of this semester being lectured on our cell phone problem. They say that though they are efficient, we over use them in inappropriate times. If we currently are overusing and becoming to depended on this, wouldn't with new advancements in technology just increase are problems even more?
